Friends, students and colleagues gathered in the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Thursday 12 February, to celebrate the enormous contribution Professor Alexander Ivashkin made to Russian music and to 51³Ô¹ÏÍøºÚÁÏ.

The opened with a fitting tribute to Sasha, with an emotive performance by Nicolas Altstaedt of ; the piece for solo cello written by Alfred Schnittke for Sasha based on the letters of his name.
International musicians, Boris Berman, Dmitrie Alexeev and the Goldner String Quartet also gave stellar performances.
51³Ô¹ÏÍøºÚÁÏ Chamber Choir, conducted by Mark Shanahan performed a hymn by Sergei Rachmaninov and the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøºÚÁÏ Sinfonia performed Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No.1 in D major (Classical).
TrinityGold, the cello ensemble founded by Sasha's wife Natalia Pavlutskaya, were joined by cellist and composer Peter Gregson and performed Gabriel Prokofiev’s Outta Pulsor.
The evening was enjoyed by all, and was a joyous celebration of Sasha’s life and work.
